Nova Scotia has a rich geological history spanning more than a billion years, much of which is spectacularly exposed on our coastline. Sites range in significance from globally unique to exceptional geological examples. In addition, cultural geoheritage sites, where human history and geology are entwined, weave through Nova Scotia’s story. Geoheritage sites, both natural and cultural, focus public attention on Earth science and the lessons that it provides as we face new challenges in our shared future

The Atlantic Geoscience Society hosts is annual conference at the Old Orchard Inn on Feb 7 and 8. This public event is part of the conference. Everyone is invited to learn and share insights in the proposed list of Nova Scotia Geoheritage sites. The presentation will be given by John Calder of the NS Department of Natural Resources (Geological Survey), who was one of the key people responsible for getting UNESCO World Heritage status for the Joggins Fossil Cliffs.
