Cooking shows are hot! And CentreStage is going to heat things up this April with the fabulous Kitchen Witches. Kitchen Witches is written by Canadian playwright Caroline Smith who won the 2005 Samuel French Playwriting Competition for the script.
Isobel Lomax and Dolly Biddle are two "mature" cable-access cooking show hostesses who have hated each other for 30 years, ever since Larry Biddle dated one and married the other. When circumstances put them together on a TV show called The Kitchen Witches, the insults are flung harder than the food! Dolly's long-suffering TV-producer son Stephen tries to keep them on track, but as long as Dolly's dressing room is one inch closer to the set than Isobel's, it's a losing battle, and the show becomes a rating smash as Dolly and Isobel top both Martha Stewart and Jerry Springer!
CentreStage audiences are going to enjoy this comedy because it’s witty, fast-paced, and is set in a unique environment. This show is appropriate for anyone over the age of 12. Actually, anyone younger will get a kick out of the costumes and cooking shenanigans but they may not totally understand the storyline. It also features adult humour.
The show stars Nancy Henry, Rachel Cooper, Brian Smit and Linda Levy Fisk. Making her directorial debut is Lia Glover. Ernest Zinck is on lights.
