Our annual Word @ the Market is back and this year with a whole lot of oomph. Join us for a celebration of writing about food, farming and things hand-made at the Wolfville Farmers' Market on July 2nd. This celebration features over ten writerly organizations and takes place as part of the Wednesday Community Nights at the Market (4-7pm) with 30 regular Vendors, our famous $10 Market Supper and songwriter extraordinaire, Caleb Miles performing live. Join us to learn more about the local writing scene with writers, bloggers, publishers, booksellers, editors, and performers. We will have a cooking demo with Le Caveau chef Jason Lynch, readings from Celine Gabrielle, Jamie Simpson and Soren Bondrup Nielsen. As well you can join us for our Dirty Word Open Mic - where weeding & writing grows prose! being MC’d by Mike and Donna. Women of Wolfville are hosting a Storytelling Tent for the kids and kids can also make Poetry Postcards. This is being done as a partnership between the Box of Delights Bookstore, Broken Leg Theatre and the Wolfville Farmers’ Market.
On Stage (4:30pm-7pm)
4:30-5:10 pm Jason Lynch offering a cooking demo of one of the recipes from his recent book: Straight from the Line
5:10-5:30 pm Celine Gabrielle will be reading from her new book: Baby Got Back--How I lost 52 pounds in 52 weeks with 52 baby steps--became a happy healthy hot mom and you can too!
5:30-5:50 pm Jamie Simpson reading from his latest book: Journeys Through Eastern Old-Growth Forests
5:50-6:10 pm Soren Bondrup Nielsen reading from his latest book: Merging: Contemplations on farming and ecology from horseback
6:15-7pm Dirty Word Open Mic - where weeding & writing grows prose! : All are welcome to come listen or share a poem or story about Food (pickles, quiche, or steaming mint tea for example); Farming (dairy air, Old MacDonald, sheep shearing, goat soap etc); or Nature (Robert Frost poetry, breastfeeding, birch bark earrings, gardening, bugs, dirt... the list goes on & on). Participants will be entered to win $40 in prizes (from Box of Delights Bookstore & Wolfville Farmers' Market). Your hosts Donna Holmes & Mike Butler will ensure we all have FUN!!
