Alan Jeffries gained many new fans when he played here with David Myles in April right after winning an ECMA for Roots/Traditional solo recording of the year. He was raised on bluegrass. He spent the summers of his youth playing at bluegrass festivals around the Maritimes with his father. In 2005, Alan was named the Atlantic Canada Bluegrass and Oldtime Music Association’s ‘Bluegrass Guitar Player of the Year.' He has since ventured into many different styles of music, playing with several artists all around the world. But Alan missed the adrenaline rush of playing and singing the old, up-tempo bluegrass songs that he loved, so he returned to his roots in order to launch his solo career and debut album.
