Swingology - This Nova Scotia based “gypsy swing” ensemble, is composed of six musicians on accordion,
guitars, bass, vocals, and occasionally a clarinet and saxophone. They primarily strive to play in the unique style of Django and the Hot Club Quintet, replicating the
sounds of 1930’s Parisian dance halls and gypsy camps. These highly trained musicians have been showing off their talents and passion on stages across Nova Scotia, playing classic jazz hits with a twist. Swingology’s
performances are exciting and inventive and sure to get audiences dancing in their seats.
Sherman Downey & the Ambiguous Case - This band rose to stardom after releasing their first album in 2010 ‘Honey for Bees’ - representing their native Newfoundland
in music festivals across Canada and Australia. They are
perhaps best known in Canada for winning CBC’s searchlight Competition in 2013 with their song “Thick as Thieves” from their sophomore album, ‘The Sun in Your Eyes’. This high-energy group uses witty lyrics, banjos, and accordions, to highlight their beloved home province and share their melodic roots-rock sound that embraces a combination of folk, pop, and country.
