“There’s a different theme every year,” says choir director MaDonna MacDonald. “There’s some bling-bling this year.” The upcoming concert will feature songs from the Idol TV series made famous by Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Stoddard and Clay Aiken. Songs by Josh Groban and a medley from the musical Evita will also be on the program.
The Shiretown Singers is a four-voice auditioned choir of 26 members with an age range of 50 years. The choir has been together for about 12 years. They practice from September through to their big end-of-year concert in late April.
“They are very versatile in age and personalities,” MacDonald says. There are three choir members who provide accompaniment on guitar and three other musicians who also pitch in for the concert.

Tickets to the concert may be reserved ahead by calling 679-1915 or 678-8306.
