L’Arche Twoonie Program at the Market

Please give a warm welcome to the folks from l’Arche Homefires tonight.   They have a booth at the main entrance where you can learn more about their capital campaign and offer contributions.   Learn about their amazing plans and help pave the way for them to have a new accessible home.  You helped us do it, and we hope you can help them too.

http://www.larchehomefires.org/Campaign/

In March 2007, at the request of Homefire's core members, the dream of a fully accessible workplace for L’ARCHE was born. A much needed new facility was proposed to meet the needs of people with disabilities in our community and to house all of L’ARCHE Homefires day programs under one roof.

We were fortunate to purchase the Anglican Church Hall which had become surplus to the needs of their congregation. With designs undertaken and donated by renowned architect Syd Dumaresq, the renovation will be in harmony with the character of Wolville’s most prized main street buildings and will provide a place of belonging for everyone in our community.

With a larger and more accessible space, L’ARCHE Homefires will be able to:

  • Consolidate its day programs in a safe and healthy workplace;

  • Allow more people with disabilities to participate in day programs together;

  • Enable those with mobility challenges to participate in workplace activities that are currently inaccessible;

  • Free up space in two L’ARCHE homes thus creating the opportunity to welcome more members;

  • Provide a fully accessible space that L’ARCHE can make available to other community groups.
