For the past two-plus decades, New Brunswick-born, Nova Scotia-based, singer-songwriter, Thom Swift has enjoyed a career in music that has brought him a multitude of acclaim and awards.

His most recent record, The Fortunate Few continues his winning ways. The album was awarded the 2014 East Coast Music Award for Blues Recording of the Year and the 2013 Music Nova Scotia Award for Blues Recording of the Year.

With a strong foundation in Americana roots and blues, Thom’s earnest baritone voice and distinctive original music has brought him to soft seat venues and festivals across Canada, Europe and the United States, including the Vienna Jazz Festival, 2010 Vancouver Olympics and last year’s International Blues Summit in Memphis, TN.

He has shared the stage with noted performers such as Rosanne Cash, John Hiatt, John Mayall, Guy Davis, Bill Frisell, Pinetop Perkins and Canned Heat.

Thom’s performances are all about connecting and engaging with his listeners. Audiences consistently identify with his lyrical content because he approaches his songs from a very real and grounded perspective.

His songs are full of honesty and integrity that flow through every note he plays and every story he tells. He writes and sings about life’s celebrations and disappointments and the commonality of our human experience.

A master finger-style and bottleneck slide guitarist, Thom’s trusty vintage guitars, including a 1930 National Steel Resonator and two acoustic guitars: a Triple O Martin and a Gibson J45, are played effortlessly and driven by his love of open guitar tunings.

As a solo artist, Thom has four recordings to his credit, including 2007’s Into The Dirt, 2010’s Blue Sky Day, the 2011 children’s recording titled, The Wood Buffalo Youth Song Project and his most recent, The Fortunate Few.

The Fortunate Few was released in March 2013. Produced by Swift, the album features acclaimed musicians and Swift’s friends, Geoff Arsenault, Brian Bourne, Kevin Breit, Scott Marshall, Mike Stevens, and Bill Stevenson and offers ten tracks, including a co-write with Dave Gunning titled, “Circle of Boots”.

Thom recently penned a tune with Matt Andersen for Matt’s latest CD, Weightless and has appeared on albums by Christine Campbell, Betty Belmore, Jim Dorie, Kev Corbett, Samantha Robichaud and Jenny MacDonald.

Prior to his solo career, Thom played with multi award-winning folk-jazz-blues trio, Hot Toddy for 12 years. He currently performs solo and with his band, the El Caminos.
