SPEAKER: Beth Lenentine, Coldbrook Biodiversity Facility
Beth manages the Coldbrook Biodiversity Facility housing a live gene bank program for endangered stocks of wild Atlantic salmon from various rivers in Nova Scotia. Although her background was in Environmental Technology, she was so intrigued with the whole aspect of supportive rearing of wild Atlantic salmon that she focused her futures studies in Aquaculture. As well as working with wild Atlantic salmon, she also has a background in in-stream habitat restoration.
The Newcomers’ Club welcomes all residents of the Annapolis Valley. You don’t have to be a newcomer to come to the meetings or to join the group: long-time residents are welcome too! Bring your favourite small coffee cup and enjoy fresh perked coffee and a sweet treat.
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month in the Wolfville Farmers’ Market Building, and are open to the public. They feature informative speakers on topics of local interest. Members can participate in the many interest groups, from biking to gourmet cooking and theatre-going. This is a great place to meet new people, learn about the area, and forge a sense of community.
