Acadia Axetreme Cheer | Acadia Axetreme Cheer is a Level 4.2 at Acadia University in Wolfville, NS. Our mission is to provide members of the Acadia community a team where they can learn and grow as an athlete and team member. We promote teamwork, dedication, learning and a spirited attitude. Our goal is to compete in Eastern competitions, supporting the school, and build strong and philanthropic athletes. |
Acadia Chemistry Club | Acadia Chemistry Club's aim is to provide sense of community within the chemistry department as well as with chemistry enthusiasts. The money we raise throughout the year is used to send as many students as possible to the annual Science Atlantic Chemistry Conference. |
Acadia Entrepreneurship Centre | The Acadia Entrepreneurship Centre provides advisory, training and innovation and incubation services for individuals, businesses, not for profit organizations and small businesses. |
Acadia Kinesiology Department | Exercise is Medicine Canada (EIMC) is a national initiative that focuses on the implementation of physical activity as a means of both preventing and managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc. |
Acadia Students' Union | The ASU is a non-profit organization that provides services, events, societies and advocacy work, along with much more, for the students of Acadia University! The ASU is an organization led by students, for students. It consists of over 80 employees and many more volunteers. |
Acadia Theatre Company | Artie Shaugnessy is a songwriter with visions of fame and fortune. Toiling by day as an animal shelter attendant, he desperately wants to escape his lower middle-class existence and become a famous singer and songwriter. Much to the chagrin of Artie’s downstairs mistress Bunny Flingus, he lives with his wife Bananas, and at first glance her name appears apt. Also on the scene are Artie’s childhood friend Billy Einhorn (who grew up to be a famous Hollywood film producer); a deaf movie actress (thanks to Billy); a trio of celebrity-seeking nuns; and a relation of Artie’s who has gone AWOL. |
Acadia Women's Centre | The Acadia Women's Centre strives to educate the campus population about women's issues, fight for equal rights, and create a safe environment for all students and the community to live as their true selves! |
Athletics | We're proud of Acadia's strong varsity athletics program - it's a tradition that dates back to 1875. Acadia holds more conference and national championships than any other university in Atlantic Canada and has the highest number of Academic All-Canadians for primarily undergraduate universities in the country. We are a member of Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) and Atlantic University Sport (AUS). When our varsity teams play, our fans gather to carry on Acadia's Stand Up and Cheer tradition! |
Community Development Program | Downtown Developer seeks input from Wolfville Citizens: Community Development students working with a Nova Scotia Developer and the Acadia Entrepreneurship Centre want your opinion regarding a new apartment development in Downtown Wolfville. Tell the students which design you like best and why. |
Community Outreach Acadia | Community Outreach Acadia is a growing internal organization created and guided by ardent students seeking to make positive and sustainable changes in our community. The club aims to engage Acadia students within the Wolfville community by presenting a wide spectrum of exciting volunteer opportunities for students. This new and dynamic club offers both spontaneous and long-term volunteer initiatives that will align with the interests of any student. Some of our initiatives include; Neighbours-Helping-Neighbours, Meal Exchange, youth centred development programs and much, much more! COA is here to lend a hand and tackle any new volunteer initiatives that present themselves within our community. |
Earth and Environmental Science | The Earth and Environmental Science Department offers three programs leading to degrees in Environmental Science, Geology and Environmental Geoscience at the B.Sc. level, and Geology and Applied Geomatics at the M.Sc. level. We are strongly committed to field and laboratory studies and our classes and field schools take advantage of the stunning natural setting of Nova Scotia. Small personalized classes, engaged faculty, and world class research facilities are hallmarks of our programs. Our graduates are exceptionally well positioned to take advantage of the ever increasing demand for scientists trained in Earth and Environmental disciplines. |
Enactus Acadia | Enactus Acadia’s project, Back to the Tap, works towards reducing the large amount of plastic bottles used throughout the Acadia campus and community. To raise awareness for this project, we will be arranging a display of water bottles used in one day on campus. This display of plastic bottles will be repurposed into a bowling game to see how many bottles can be knocked down in two throws. Our hope is to put a fun spin on this important issue while bringing awareness to the project. |
Kinderskills | Kinderskills is a program that matches children ages 0-4 with a university student. The program allows the children to develop through play. |
School of Nutrition and Dietetics | Chris Ang, Lauren Dalbock, Maude Morin and Heather Feldmann are students in NUTR 4743, Introduction to Research in Nutrition and Dietetics. They will share what they are learning about developing research proposals. Dr. Morley's research is aimed at reducing malnutrition risk in seniors. She is exploring the use of the arts including online media in nutrition education. |
Social Entrepreneurship | Sam, Decadia, Jess and Sophie are students currently taking a social entrepreneurship course at Acadia. Part of the course requires students to tackle a social issue and attempt to solve it using enterprise. The problem they have chosen is to address food waste in the Annapolis Valley. As such, they have come up with a proposal to create edible landscapes that would encourage people to connect more closely to their food while offering valuable services such as tending to the garden, harvesting, and processing whatever is grown. Their table will have an installation on food waste to increase awareness of the issue and an interactive demonstration of their solution. |
Society Of Acadia Music Students (SAMS) | The School of Music offers a comprehensive music curriculum where students develop expertise in a chosen area of specialization while being encouraged to broaden their horizons within our many diverse course offerings. At Acadia University we believe an undergraduate school of music in a liberal arts university should be more of a laboratory than a conservatory. We strive to create versatile, confident, and well-rounded musicians who are prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Moreover we believe our program provides an essential foundation for success in any career of life path by focusing on these five key pillars of any classical contemporary music education. The Society of Acadia Music Students (SAMS) is a student run club that organizes activities and events for music students. We also promote musical events in the community and on campus as well as congratulate music students on their achievements. We are the liaison between the staff and students working to make this experience the best one possible. |
Vaughan Memorial Library | Vaughan Memorial Library: Located at the centre of campus, the Vaughan Memorial Library provides many services and specialized collections, which support the teaching and research programs of the University. We welcome community members to use our great space, as well as, our wide variety of resources. You can borrow books, DVDs and CDs with your public library card or a free Novanet card! You may use our guest computers, or log on to our guest network while on campus to use all our electronic resources. The Library also hosts many wonderful events each year, such as author readings and health and wellness events, which the community is more than welcome to attend. |
Wong International Centre | The Wong International Centre is home to about 400 international students at Acadia. We provide programming to ensure that international students have a successful experience during their time at Acadia. |
