Kids Nature Night!
“We can't blame children for occupying themselves with Facebook rather than playing in the mud. Our society doesn't put a priority on connecting with nature. In fact, too often we tell them it's dirty and dangerous,” says David Suzuki.
The Kids’ Nature Night is the perfect way to reconnect youth and families with nature.
Throughout the evening there will be informal short (5 to 10 minute) talks by kids about their own personal nature projects, photographs or experiences. A formal presentation will focus on the benefits of connecting kids and adults with nature.
Roam the hall looking at various booths, displays and demos to find out what local nature groups are out there, what creatures you can find in your own backyard or sit and participate in a hands-on nature project.
Take home some free gear at the give away table! There will be tables of free equipment, gear, field guides etc. for helping kids explore the natural world.
If you have gear to donate, would like to register to do a booth, demo or hands-on project, or know a youth who would like to give a short talk in this judge-free environment, email BNS@valleynature.ca.
All ages are welcome.
