Let us help you make your plans this Fall!  The Wolfville Farmers’ Market created yet another wonderful Community and Market Supper night where you can make win prizes, eat a wonderful meal with friends and family, top up your groceries mid-week, all the while making your Fall Plans!  Learn about and make your fall plans by stopping by on September 14th from 4-7pm to check out ten amazing organizations offering after-school programs, recreation opportunities, dance and theatre programs, along with upcoming festivals to look forward to.  This is a great night to bring the kids as you can bring them for a loop around all the registration tables to meet those offering programs they might be interested in.  This will occur during our regular Wednesday Market, so there will also be over 25 vendors for your mid-week grocery top-up, our $10 Market Suppers and live music.


Participating Organizations:

Acadia Dance Community Club holds dance classes for children in the community at a set price.  The styles of dance include creative movement, tap, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, and many more. Acadia Performing Arts Series presents approximately eight top-quality concerts during each academic year, generally in the friendly surroundings of Wolfville’s lovely Festival Theatre. The backbone of this series has been and continues to be classical music, but programming also features world music, dance, opera, jazz, and theatre along with Symphony Nova Scotia, pianists, violinists, cellists and small ensembles. Acadia University Art Gallery opened in 1978.  The Acadia University Art Gallery offers a year-round exhibition programme of contemporary and historical work. The exhibitions and outreach programming of the Acadia University Art Gallery promote visual literacy and enhance the intellectual and cultural experience of the University and wider community.  Exhibitions are presented from internal and external curatorial projects, submissions from artists and exhibitions from other cultural institutions including the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the National Gallery of Canada, The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and international organizations. gallery.acadiau.ca/Acadia_Art_Gallery/Welcome.html


Cadance Academy offers dance classes in a variety of styles including Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern Acro, Hip Hop, Yoga and more in three Valley locations: New Minas, Kentville and Greenwich. Cadance is dedicated to providing qualified instruction in a non-competitive atmosphere. It is a performance school that encourages not only the creative development of all its students but the development of a strong technical foundation from which they are able to rise to new heights. Deep Roots Music Co-op will be promoting their 13th annual Deep ROots Music Festival.  It is an annual event that brings together some of the finest folk and roots singers, songwriters and musicians in the world for a weekend of concerts, parties, workshops and celebration. The festival blends Nova Scotia's rich and diverse musical traditions with modern roots music. Free and ticketed music events, singing, dancing, drumming and a parade. Open Acadia formed  the Acadia Lifelong Learning (ALL) Centre in 2001 as a way of sharing the intellectual and cultural resources of Acadia with the Annapolis Valley's growing population of senior adults. Today, Acadia Lifelong Learning is open to adults of any age, and hundreds of community members participate in ALL and contribute to Acadia's vibrant presence in our local area.  ALL offers a variety of courses and events designed for the community, from archaeology and local history to painting and photography. Members age 50+ can also audit courses from Acadia’s large breadth of undergraduate academic offerings. Through ALL programs, participants revisit old talents, discover new skills, make social connections, and learn from a number of engaging local experts.  all.openacadia.ca


TAOIST TAI CHI™  is based on tai chi movements that date back over a 1000 years. TAOIST TAI CHI™ is taught in over 400 clubs in Canada and can be found in 27 countries. It is a charitable organization that is predominantly run by volunteers. All the instructors give freely of their time to teach.  TAOIST TAI CHI™ helps participants with balance, strength, flexibility, patience and tranquility.  TAOIST TAI CHI™ provides a four month Beginner Program that teaches the fundamentals of this ancient art form. It begins Sept 13, 6 to 8 PM and/or Sept.15, 11 AM to 1 PM and is held at the Louis Millett Community Complex.  For those who have progressed beyond the Beginners Program we also offer Continuing Classes.  taoist.org


Town of Wolfville is excited to be offering after school recreation programs for the 2016/17 academic year! There are a number of options available for fall and winter programs that will offer great experiences and an opportunity to try something new and fun! Our programs include art, cooking, dance/theatre, and trailblazers. There’s something here to peak everyone’s interests! Wolfville Skating Club has been in the Wolfville area since 1972 and has been providing Skate Canada programs in the valley. Our Pre-CanSkate for 3-4 yr olds, CanSkate for 5 yrs old and up and the advanced StarSkate programs are offered at Acadia Arena on Saturday mornings. wolfvilleskatingclub.ca
