The East Coast Music Association (ECMA), in partnership with the Atlantic Presenters Association (APA) and with support from MIPAC, have created this new tour featuring five up-and-coming artists from each of the regions represented in the ECMA. The performers are:
Ian Sherwood - representing Nova Scotia
Jordan Musycsyn - representing Cape Breton
Jon Pyke (of Everglow) - representing Newfoundland & Labrador
Andrew Waite (of Andrew Waite & the Firm) - representing PEI
Mike Biggar - representing New Brunswick
These artists were selected by APA presenters after seeing them perform during the 2016 ECMAs in Sydney, NS. Each performer participated at the 2015 and 2016 SOCAN Song House, a two-day interactive songwriting workshop led by renowned songwriter, producer and author of Murphy’s Law of Songwriting, Ralph Murphy. The artists will converge on MIPAC for a two-day residency to re-connect, explore individual songs and create collaborations, and the tour will launch at MIPAC immediately following.
For audiences, the performance will provide a look inside the songwriting process and the chance to see unique collaborations from some of the region's best up-and-coming talent.
“This tour is the perfect way for music fans in our Atlantic region to discover up-and-coming song writers from right in their own backyards and get a taste of what it is like to attend the ECMAs,” says Lisa Gleave, Mermaid’s General Manager and tour presenter.
