Join us together as we showcase, celebrate, share and learn about the many cultures that are part of our history and part of our community. We will be celebrating the World in our Neighbourhood so come in traditional dress and enjoy our World-on-a-Plate Market Supper Menu as our vendors share their heritage through their unique cuisine.  We will have food from Glooscap First Nation, Albania, China, Germany, Senegal, India and even Syria.  Meet people from around the world who make the Annapolis Valley their home.  


We will have organizations who support newcomers and others who can help tell the story of our shared heritage here in the Valley.  Children can try on period costumes from the Grand Pre National Historic Site.  The Wong Centre will be sharing many cultural crafts with the kids. Glooscap First Nation will not only bringing Luski for us to try but will be showcasing crafts from a number of artisans in their community. VANSDA will be sharing information about their supports while showcasing jewellery made by one of their clients.  You can try a Henna tattoo and discover your name or a greeting in a new language!  It will truly be a night to celebrate our beautiful world in our beautiful neighbourhood.

Balanced Soul Clothing & Accessories has been in business for a few years now, and we have had so much fun bringing you hand selected items from India. We’ve expanded into workshops and are also offering spiritual adventure retreats to India.


BAOL African Food will be serving food from Senegal.  Baol is one of the regions in Senegal. M'baye Fall, our chef, is from this region. He speaks wolof, the original language, and french. The senegalese cuisine is one of the most varied of the West Africa. A rich cuisine with influence from Portugal, French and North Africa. The teranga (means share) is the principal idea. Everyone eats from the same plate, a big one, with their hands or a spoon. The meals are cooked slowly and everybody can smell it in the house. The Senegal people are very welcoming, hospitable and always smiling.  Boal brings with him a lot of recipes from his family.


Glooscap First Nation is an aboriginal community in Kings County. Known as Pesikitk', it’s community is located approximately near the town of Hantsport, NS and has a Convenience Store, Gas Bar, and a small Gaming Centre. There is also a Band Office, Community Centre, Health Centre, Chapel and Youth/Elders Centre. The 2016 population was 373 people of whom approximately 94 lived on the reserve.


Parks Canada Agency - Grand-Pré National Historic Site will be promoting Acadian Culture.  An Acadian interpreter will be present and able to inform people of Acadian culture and history, and how a visit to the National Historic Site is a wonderful, memorable experience for the whole family which will enable a better understanding of the culture and history. Sample period costumes will be on displays and can be tried on, sample dyke construction - a list of Acadian family names...etc...some children's programs available at the site will be shared, such as the Xplorer and Parka programs.


Sushma's HENNA provides professional, high quality HENNA and esthetician services specializing in THREADING.  Threading is a way to get your eyebrows shaped perfectly without the use of any chemicals like wax and such but instead with the use of simple cotton thread. Syrian family is new to this bustling community of Wolfville and they would like to share their culture and culinary treats with our local Farmers’ Market.  Providing both sweet and savoury dishes from their home, they hope to add some extra spice and flavour to the Multicultural Evening and beyond.


VANSDA (Valley African Nova Scotian Development Association) VANSDA is a not for profit community organization that specializes in job/search development assistance for the whole community. VANSDA assists with resume development, cover letters, networking etc. VANSDA seeks to assist clients in addressing barriers to employment and finding resources to limit or eliminate barriers by designing programs for their specific needs.   Options such as returning to school, reviewing essential skills, training,  job shadowing, exploring entrepreneurship, apprenticeship to name a few.  We are showcasing one of our clients and their jewellery at this event.


Valley Community Learning Association works with newcomers who are Permanent Residents or Canadian Citizens born outside of Canada. Our professional EAL (English as an Additional Language) instructors hold regular classes in Cornwallis, Middleton, Kentville and Wolfville throughout the Fall, Winter and Spring and accept students on a continuous basis. We also recruit volunteer tutors to work one-on-one with these students (to reinforce their classroom learning, to provide additional conversational opportunities or to work on specific goals of the learner) or to work with newcomers unable to access a class.


Wong International Centre was established in 1997.  The Wong International Centre (WIC) offers international students a “home away from home”.  With the generous support of Gene D. Wong (’60), Acadia’s first graduate of Chinese descent, this Centre was created to provide support and information for Acadia’s many international students.


YMCA will be promoting its Immigrant Services Program, which helps with settlement services for recent immigrants to the Annapolis Valley.  Welcome to Nova Scotia! The YMCA's Rural Immigrant Settlement Staff are here to provide recent immigrants to the Annapolis Valley with all the help they need in making this their new home.
