Concert featuring C.P.Allen High School Wind Ensemble, Acadia Percussion Ensemble, Clarinetist Kinan Asmeh, Percussionist Mark Adam and pianist/composer Dinuk Wijeratne, conductor Nathan Beeler.
The concert presents a new work for wind ensemble by Dinuk Wijeratne, based on Qawwali music from northern India and Pakistan. This new work features a prominent role for percussion ensemble and solo clarinet. As well, two works by Canadian composers will be presented.
Concert made possible by a grant from the Cultural Opportunities for Youth division of N.S. Department of Tourism and Culture. This concert officially begins the N.S. Music Educators Assoc. Annual Conference being held in Wolfville Oct. 22 - 24.
