Doors open at 10am
Come and join us to learn about eating disorders. These devastating illnesses are more common than autism & schizophrenia & have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness.
This event is particularly relevant for those supporting someone with an eating disorder.
Find out what eating disorders are; who gets them & why; what treatment is available locally; hear stories of lived experience & recovery, & much more.
There will be notable guest speakers including acclaimed author and eating disorder advocate, Tabitha Farrar; informative displays; & self-care demos including a mindfulness session, yoga class and art therapy.
In addition, there will be an evening session (from 6.30pm to 8pm) which will include presentations & discussions around nutrition and ‘normal’ eating. It is being held at the Beveridge Art Centre, of Acadia University.
This event is free and is supported by the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.
