Canada marks its 150th birthday in 2017, and the Bedford Brass Quintet is celebrating with a concert featuring Canadian folk and pop music! Highlights include "Newfoundland Sketch" by the late great Howard Cable, a brass rendition of Leonard Cohen’s "Hallelujah", and "Suite: From the Monteregian Hills", by Canadian composer Morley Calvert.
Known for eclectic repertoire and outside-the-box performances, the Bedford Brass Quintet features accomplished musicians who have played with many of Canada’s leading ensembles, including Symphony Nova Scotia, the National Ballet Orchestra, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, the Nanaimo Symphony Orchestra, and the PEI Symphony Orchestra. For two years running, the BBQ has been voted among the best classical ensembles in Halifax by readers of The Coast, scoring Bronze in 2015 and Silver in 2016.
