Offer a Home, Share a Home:
homeSHARE in Your Community!
Are you concerned about finding reasonable places to rent? Or worried about how to keep up your home that’s too big just for you? Or just interested in creating more connected communities in the Valley? Join us this October/November!
The Women’s Place Resource Centre wants to start a homeSHARE Program in the Annapolis Valley (Kings and Annapolis Counties) and all residents are invited. You can attend one of six Community Round Tables to learn more about homeSHARE, to talk about how it would work in your community, to raise any concerns you may have and to explore ways of addressing those concerns to create a safe, strong and effective program.
HomeShare programs match people who have an extra room in their home (Home Providers) with people who need an affordable place to live (Home Sharers). Home Sharers offer help in the home in exchange for low- or no-cost accommodation. HomeShare programs normally interview both Home Sharers and Home Providers to ensure good matches, support both parties in making their agreement, and offer follow-up.
The Annapolis Valley homeSHARE Program is funded by a Nova Scotia Department of Seniors Age-Friendly Communities Grant. It is based at the Women’s Place Resource Centre.
