Please join us for this free Lunchtime Learning session presented by Acadia Lifelong Learning.

Richard Groot will present images of 4 abandoned mills in the Annapolis Valley with a narrative of their history , circumstances of their closing and the impact on people and communities. Britex in Bridgetown, Windsor Wear in Windsor, Minas Basin Paperboard mill in Hantsport and the gypsum processor in Windsor.

Richard Groot is a photographer interested in documenting abandoned industry, the tidal landscape, street photography and portraits. He has exhibited his work in the province and in Cuba and published a photo-documentary book:They wanted it to last forever: Closing the Minas Basin Paper Board Mill in Hantsport. He is currently preparing an exhibition about closing factories in the Valley that will be shown in Windsor at the Cedar Centre in April and May 2018.
