This musical, written by Allen Cole and Vincent de Tourdonnet, based on the novel Pélagie-la-Charrette by Antonine Maillet, is about the quest of one woman's journey back to her homeland in Grand Pre, Nova Scotia. She and her family were among the many Acadians who were deported in 1755. It tells the tale of what happened to people in our land, a tale told from the perspective which is humanitarian, thoughtfully pacifist, and deeply aware of the contribution of women in forming community, culture and values - values which are pluralist, inclusive and universal.
Performers: Chamber Music Workshop under the direction of Paula Rockwell and musical direction by Mary Castello.
