Terra Spencer (https://terraspencer.ca/)

Terra Spencer spent her youth in a basement in Summerville, Hants County playing piano and secretly strumming her granddad’s guitars. She takes the odd break from her day job as a funeral director and private music teacher to tour with acclaimed folk country musician Ryan Cook. Her newfound passion for storytelling through songs led to the recent release of her debut record. Everybody Knows was recorded with Jake Smith in Windsor, NS, where Terra now lives with her family, two dogs, and an empty cotton mill, the subject of a YouTube video lovingly produced with Analog Songs.

Mike T. Kerr (https://miketkerr.com)

Mike T. Kerr is a wild flatpicker and ambitious country songwriter of Canadian heritage and American citizenship. In over 10 years of performing, he's lived his life through many historical and contemporary musical styles. Always curious to dig up not only a song's history, but the shape of the world at the time, Mike plays passionately and openly while interpreting the great guitar players of the past.

Winona Wilde (www.winonawilde.com)

From the obscure underbelly of Canada’s dive bar circuit comes Winona Wilde, secret code name of Canadian singer-songwriter Noosa Al-Sarraj. A former lawyer/opera singer/dishwasher and huge fan of country music, Al-Sarraj one day absconded from all things real-life to dive head first into touring musicianhood, her true calling and lifelong torment. As described by one festival director, the effect of her live performance can be spellbinding: “Winona Wilde is a champion of the underdog, a blue collar heroine. Demigod of the downtrodden, she calls us all in, together, using the precision of her well honed voice and her captivating charm, she opens us up and shows us what we're made of. Messy and sparkling we get to leave the theatre together, intact, illuminated and staring our humanity in the face.

David Newland with Siqiniup Qilautu (Sunsdrum) (http://www.davidnewland.com)

The Northwest Passage in Story and Song is a musical and spoken-word performance of original songs inspired by the sights and sounds of the Canadian Arctic, its history and its contemporary realities. Combining photography, storytelling, and live original songs, this workshop conveys the emotional and spiritual impact of Arctic travel, from the point of view of a Zodiac driver and musician who has made multiple trips to the Canadian Arctic, Labrador and Greenland. The performance will feature Inuit throat-singing duo Siqiniup Qilautu (Sunsdrum).

The Gilberts

The Gilberts are Frieden, Reuben and Maisie Gilbert. Since emigrating from UK as pre-schoolers in 2003 they have made their home in Nova Scotia and become immersed in the province’s vibrant music scene. Starting out at open mics at festivals they have begun to attract attention for their close three-part harmonies and are now playing fund-raiser concerts, coffee houses, house parties and other events. They are all current or former members of the Annapolis Valley Honour Choir, and the Acadia Youth Band. They are multi-instrumentalists with trumpet, saxophone, flute, guitar, mandolin, ukulele and Theremin featuring in their original and cover songs. The Gilberts play and are influenced by an eclectic range of music including jazz, blues, classic 1970s rock, and pop but are primarily writing and performing contemporary folk songs. The Gilberts are working on original songs for their first album which will be released in 2018.

Kim Barlow (http://www.kimbarlow.ca/)

Kim Barlow is an enduring presence in the Canadian indie-folk scene. A creative and intelligent songwriter, skillful on guitar, clawhammer banjo, and sometimes cello, she’s recorded six albums of her own work, earned two Juno nominations (solo and with stringband Annie Lou), and has many collaborations. These include duo Spring Breakup, with Mathias Kom of the Burning Hell and stringband Ida Red, a foot-stomping collective started with Gaspereau songster Heather Kelday. Having left her long-time Yukon home and relocated to Nova Scotia, Barlow finds herself back where she came from. With racous young twins in the house, she has been on hiatus from the touring circuit, but is rapidly gaining momentum with her new projects in the Annapolis Valley. Watch for her - teaching banjo and ukulele at home in Canning and Wolfville; hosting Friday old-time sessions at the hall in Kingsport; or gigging solo, with Ida Red, and other musical companions around the Maritimes.
