WINTER SONGS (New Album)
In 2018, Terra and The Bombadils met during a Songwriters' Circle at the Deep Roots Festival in Wolfville, where they came together on stage for a spontaneous version of Terra's song Cotton Mill. The combination of Terra's storytelling and the Bombadils' strong harmonies and sophisticated strings left a mark on the audience and performers, inspiring new collaborations. True to its title, Winter Songs is a unique presentation of original and reimagined songs, capturing the frosty chill and fireside stories of the season, told with the warmth of new friendship between two of Nova Scotia's premier folk acts.
About Terra Spencer: Terra Spencer takes the odd break from her day job as a funeral director in Hants County, Nova Scotia to tour with acclaimed country musician Ryan Cook, winning over new audiences in Ontario, the UK, and Germany. Bridging folk and Americana, Terra's newfound passion for storytelling through songs has led to a busy year of solo shows throughout Nova Scotia, and the recent release of her debut record, Other People’s Lives. Produced near her home in Windsor with longtime friend Jake Smith, the album weaves secretive stories with lyrical twists, gentle guitar, gospel piano, and Terra's warm, intimate voice.
About The Bombadils: Nova Scotian maritimer Luke Fraser and Alberta prairie-girl Sarah Frank create beautiful harmonies and enchanting melodies with old folk songs, poetry, and original songs in a Canadian folk and contemporary bluegrass framework. Luke’s guitar, mandolin, and harmonies are the ideal counterpoint to Sarah’s sweet-yet-powerful vocals, lyrical fiddle and clawhammer banjo. Innovative arrangements give their songs layer upon layer of sonically satisfying surprises.
