Growing up in a household filled with music, some of his influences include Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Don Williams, Hank Williams Jr., all the way to more modern country influences such as Alan Jackson, Steve Earle, Travis Tritt, Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, and the Zac Brown Band. He cut his teeth performing with various local bands leading up to 2016, when he made the decision to go solo and form the Justin Wood Band. The transition has been challenging yet stimulating for everyone involved, with a debut album release set for summer 2019.
