This year the Sheffield Mills Harvest Fair will have an evening concert featuring the rockabilly trio Blueprint and Canning’s own Laura Roy.

Blueprint is a band from the Annapolis Valley that was formed by Jason Burns (Guitar) and Darcy Smith (Bass). They started playing together a few years ago and decided to put this project together. The idea was to play not only classic rockabilly hits along with modern ones but also to incorporate other eras and genre's of music with a rockabilly twist to them. "That way we can take great songs that we know are hits, add our twist and it makes it a whole new experience." In December of 2009, after playing a lot of open mics to build up exposure, Blueprint added a drummer and started booking gigs around the Annapolis Valley. Currently they are working on writing and recording a few original songs and are expanding to play the Halifax scene this fall.

Born on October 8th, 1991 in the small village of Canning, NS, eighteen-year old Laura Roy sparked an interest in music and performance at the age of 5. She started to make her way on to the music scene at age 13 after showcasing her singing talents at local community contests and shows. At age 14, Laura picked up a guitar and began to compose her own music and lyrics. Not long after learning guitar Laura wrote her first song titled “Free” at age 14. Over the last three years her musical abilities have grown immensely. Laura continues to write song lyrics and performs wherever she can. After working with Bruce Guthro and opening for Juno Award Winner Jenny Whiteley, Laura was convinced that music would continue to be her lifelong passion. Her captivating stage presence, song writing abilities beyond her years and an incredible voice has made other artists described her as someone to watch.

The concert will take place on veterans field behind the hall and admission is a free will offering – proceeds to local charities.
