The Department of Politics and the Acadia Black Students’ Association are hosting a Special Roundtable on Anti-Black Racism in the Academy. Held in conjunction with the Atlantic Provinces Political Science Association (APPSA) annual conference, this roundtable is free and open to the public.

The importance and urgency of a discussion about anti-Black racism was highlighted by the experience of Acadia student Shelby McPhee at the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences in June where he was subject to racial profiling and implicit bias on the part of another conference attendee.

Panelists for this roundtable include:
Dr. Claudine Bonner (Acadia University and Black Canadian Studies Association)
Sawyer Carnegie (Saint Mary’s University and Black Canadian Studies Association)
Dr. Tracy-Ann Johnson-Myers (University of the West Indies)
Shelby McPhee (Acadia University)

A light lunch will be provided for those in attendance.
