Event in Room: 132

Join Laura Churchill Duke as she discusses the lessons she learned in conducting community research as it pertains to her recently-published historical novel, Two Crows Sorrow.

Two Crows Sorrow is creative non-fiction following the life of Theresa McAuley Robinson, who lived on the North Mountain at the turn of the century. The novel is a true account of Theresa’s love and devotion for her children and her farmland, which ultimately led to her demise.

This presentation will delve into the writing process which included collecting historical primary sources including newspaper articles, trial transcripts and letters. Churchill Duke will highlight lessons learned in the process, especially concerning the reporting of sensitive stories.

Two Crows Sorrow is published by Moose House Publications and is available in local bookstores across the Valley and online through Amazon and Indigo, and in e-reader format. Books will be available for purchase and signing after the talk.

This lecture is free and open to everyone. This lecture is sponsored by the Department of History and Classics. For more information contact info@laurachurchillduke.ca.
