What could be more fun that smashing a chestnut on a string? While it may sound odd, that is exactly what is happening during the 8th annual North American Conker Championship at the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens on October 19.

Conker is an old English schoolyard game where two players thread a shoelace through a drilled chestnut (conker in England) and compete to see who has the stronger nut. Each player takes turns whacking their opponent’s conker and the last nut still on the string is the winner.

Registration for the North American Conker Championship begins at 9am at the Historic Gardens. The competition starts at 10:30am.

When it comes to conkers, you may arrive as an average nut but, you could leave as a champion.
