After years of classical piano studies in his native Germany, a 13-year-old Kaeshammer discovered boogie-woogie. In no time, the teen wunderkind was playing piano in clubs, concerts, and festivals all over Germany. Then the Kaeshammer family moved to the West Coast of Canada ...
Now, two decades later,pianist/singer/songwriter/producer has recorded thirteen albums. His latest, 2018’s “Something New”, earned a Juno nod, his ninth, for Jazz Album of the Year. Richly melodic, the album was mostly recorded in New-Orleans and it features a remarkable “A-List “of musicians including Cyrille Neville, George Porter Jr (The Meters), Chuck Leavell (Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones), Randy Bachman and Colin James. If one is indeed measured by the company they keep, Kaeshammer is a giant!
