Crohn's and Colitis Canada Presents
Spirit of the East Coast in Music
Join us for an evening of amazing music at the Ultimate Atlantic Kitchen Party, featuring some of the finest musicians the east coast has to offer. Help support the 1 in 140 people who live with inflammatory bowel disease!
Crohn’s and Colitis Canada in the Maritimes and Newfoundland have come together to invite you to join us virtually for The Spirit of the East Coast in Music – The Ultimate Atlantic Kitchen Party!
What is a “kitchen party”?
NOUN - Canadian (especially in Newfoundland and the Maritime Provinces) An informal social gathering with music and dancing, typically held in a person's home.
The kitchen often becomes the central gathering spot in the home when friends come to visit. Stories and songs are shared, guitars and fiddles are brought out, dancing around the table happens, and there are often beverages, finger foods and people standing around talking. The kitchen is the natural gathering place of conversations, laughter and fun with friends.
We encourage you to bring the kitchen party spirit into your home – pick out your favourite gathering place space in your home, have your favourite appetizers, munchies and beverages on hand, and move the coffee table out of the way so you have a dance floor for when the need arises!
A variety of Atlantic Canadian musicians and performers will provide the soundtrack for the evening!
Even though restrictions are still in place that keep us from gathering in each other’s homes for the time being, we hope this event will bring that social and festive feel to your home!
Please share your favourite kitchen party food and drinks, and share your photos on social media with the hashtag #AtlanticKP
Raise a glass, and shout “Sociable!!” (a toast heard across Atlantic Canada) for all to hear!
Definitions by our Crohn's and Colitis Canada volunteers:
A “kitchen party” is typically family and friends gathering in an area (typically a kitchen, but could also be a living room, shed, etc.) usually with at least one instrument (usually a guitar), where the musically inclined will play songs and sing, and most others will join in and sing along and/or dance throughout the evening.

The thing about a kitchen party is that it doesn’t involve any preparation! It’s when a group of friends get together (preferably close to a fridge full of beers!) and everyone sings along and plays live music! It’s relaxed and fun! Now that’s a kitchen party!
