Juno Award winning songwriter and musician Bahamas (Afie Jurvanen) comes to Wolfville as part of his STILL SAD TOUR, supporting his award-winning fifth full-length album, Sad Hunk. Special guest is acclaimed guitarist and songwriter Ariel Posen.
The five-time JUNO Award winner took home the 2021 Adult Alternative Album of the Year award for Sad Hunk, making him the first to receive the accolade for three consecutive albums. He did so in 2015 for Bahamas Is Afie, when he was also named Songwriter Of The Year, and for Earthtones, which also won Video of the Year ("Depression," directed by Ali Eisner). Earthtones was also nominated for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
Just months after the release of his sophomore album, Headway, in March, Winnipeg's Ariel Posen released his latest full-length, Mile End, on October 1. Dubbed "a modern-day guitar hero" by Rolling Stone, Posen's music occupies the space between genres. It's a rootsy sound that nods to his influences — heartland rock and roll, electrified Americana, blue-eyed soul, R&B, Beatles-inspired pop — while still moving forward, pushing Posen into territory that's uniquely his own.
