Mama’s Broke
Multi instrumentalists Lisa Maria and Amy Lou Keeler have spent the past eight years in a near-constant state of transience, pounding the transatlantic tour trail. They've brought their dark, fiery folk-without-borders sound to major festivals and DIY punk houses alike, absorbing traditions from their maritime home in Eastern Canada all the way to Ireland and Indonesia. Close harmony duets, commanding vocals, Eastern European fiddle tunes and ancient a cappella ballad singing, meld into an unusually accessible dark-folk sound.
Eric Stephen Martin's meandering, stream-of-consciousness lyricism wades through the waters of heartbreak, redemption, and hope, being shamelessly self-reflective and heavily influenced by the beat poetry of Jack Kerouac and 90's Bob Dylan. Dreamlike trades the humour and irony of modern indie art for a more serious and heartfelt approach.
