Python Programming Fundamentals
Saturday February 25, 2023  2pm - 4pm (2 Hours)
Workshop / Class

This workshop, which runs every Saturday for five weeks, is intended for novices with an interest in programming. It offers a hands-on, pragmatic view of the Python programming language. Divided into five 2-hour sessions, the workshop will discuss essential programming concepts: from data types and control structures, through techniques for writing, testing and improving programs.

Each session will consist of two brief 15-20 minute lectures followed by lab work and discussions, while the scope and the material covered will be tailored to the expectations and interests of the students. Each session will end with an open question/problem to be revisited at the next meeting.

As a whole, the workshop will build participant’s confidence and create foundations for further independent study of Python and programming in general.

No programming experience is required, but an understanding of how to use the operating system of choice is expected (files, directories, etc.). Bring your own laptop. Thonny will need to be installed on the computer (or can be installed during the first session).

Must register for all five sessions. Space is limited. Ages: 13-19.
