Please join us for a series of ten workshops on Mondays beginning on March 14th, 2011. Making Art Mondays are a series of workshops presented by the Alliance of Kings Artists with support from the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism and Culture and the Acadia University Art Gallery. Each session is focused on a specific project and is facilitated by an artist. The workshops are for adults and are structured as completely hands-on and interactive. Collaboration and idea exchange are encouraged.

About this Workshop: Learning to Look'--Creative Writing Workshop for Adults

According to poet Robert Creeley, “We make with what we have, and in this way anything is worth looking at.” Uncover the poetry in your world. Discover unexpected sources of inspiration for poems, the tools we use to make them, and the challenges they present. In this hands-on workshop we will talk about different kinds of poetry, answer questions, and write poems on works of art, modes of travel, and the task of naming.

Facilitator: Wanda Campbell has an MA in Creative Writing (U Windsor) and a PhD in Canadian literature (Western) and she teaches Creative Writing at Acadia University. She has published five collections of poetry, Daedalus Had a Daughter (Signature 2011), Grace (Blue Grama 2009), Looking for Lucy (Leaf 2008), Haw [Thorn] (Gaspereau 2003) and Sky Fishing (Black Moss 1997) and her work has appeared in literary journals across Canada.
