Our presentation this month:
“Bird-window Collisions: Understanding the problem and what you can do about it” with Melissa McDonald.

Have you had that sickening feeling of a songbird hitting your window and dying? It's been estimated that ~269 million birds die every year in Canada due to human-related causes. Of that, over 95% is due to predation by cats and collisions with structures including houses (i.e. windows). Come hear about the problem of bird-window collisions and find out about some easy and practical solutions you can implement to reduce the risk of these collisions.

Melissa McDonald is a recently retired environmental lawyer having worked for many years with Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. For eight years during spring and fall bird migration, she volunteered with FLAP Canada patrolling the sidewalks of Toronto’s financial district in the early hours of the morning rescuing and recovering migratory birds that collided with windows.
