Damian Brennan was born in Belfast Ireland during the height of political unrest. It was here through his primary school that he was taught the Tin Whistle and later the bodhran drum. Damian was surrounded by traditional Irish music which became his passion and a great distraction from the escalating political violence of the time. Damian's parents had enough of the troubles and moved to County Wicklow in the Republic of Ireland. Here Damian continued his love of music and moved on to guitar. Although traditional music has always been his passion, Damian also played in a variety of different show bands and at one time was lead singer in a successful soul band called Souled out, until finally moving to Canada in 1989. Damian started performing at Vancouver Irish venues as well as ski resorts where he covered many genres. Being the youngest of ten, Damian was handed down a variety of records, everything from Perry Como, The Beatles, Van Morrison and the Eagles... but his passion remained in Irish music and storytelling. Says Damian " I just love the history of the songs and the fact that often times, the music relates to a true story or event " " Irish music is also totally up to interpretation and anyone is free to perform and record it their own way" Damian has recorded past albums namely, Dear Irish Boy and more recently Shamrock Shore, a CD that Damian recorded, produced and mastered himself. Damian also utilizes his music while working at his other passion.... supporting people with Intellectual disabilities and won an award through social services for his accomplishments. Damian continued to perform throughout the United States and Canada and did a stint for the Rocky Mountaineer lumberjack show in an acting musical role. Recently Damian moved to Nova Scotia with his fiancé Nicole Ruuska where he continues to perform and delight audiences. His music can be found on all the major platforms including Apple on Spotify and also on his website.
