Draw Your Fears: An exploration of fear through art
with Amanda Suutari and Nika Peters
An experiential art and craft workshop inviting participants to explore their fears in a safe and playful environment.
This workshop aims to leave participants feeling a little more empowered and with tools to work with or transform an aspect of their life where they feel afraid or anxious.
Co-led by artist Amanda Suutari and artist & art therapist Nika Peters*.
*Please note that Nika is an art therapist, but this is a workshop not art therapy.
LEVEL:
Everyone (minimum age 12 years)
MATERIALS PROVIDED FOR YOU:
- Art and craft supplies (Pencil crayons, paper, Water-based paints, collage materials and glue).
MATERIALS TO BRING:
- Sketch pad
- (Optional) You are invited to bring along any of your own paints, markers and other supplies you enjoy using.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
AMANDA SUUTARI (she/her) is an artist and educator based in ancestral and unceded M'i’kmaq territory. She is committed to supporting the human transition towards a more regenerative, equitable, and intelligent relationship with each other and the planet. Her exhibition Arachnophilia: A Love Story is on display at the Artsplace Chapel Gallery from March 2-22. You can learn more about her at www.amandasuutari.com.
NIKA PETERS (they/them), Artist & Art Therapist, is guided by over two decades of meditation experience, community organizing and working with youth, a love of art, and a belief that everyone holds their own key to healing and transformation. They are deeply committed to unlearning colonization and bring an emphasis of liberation of self intertwined with the collective to their work. Their own art practice includes painting a Tarot deck, which is almost completed! Nika lives amongst community on unceded Mi’kmaq territory in the district of Kespukwitk, in the beautiful Annapolis Valley.
