Experience the magic of ‘Sofa Sundays’! Enjoy live music from talented performers, nestled upstairs in the Artists’ Landing Art Gallery.
Valmy is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Ontario who’s been following the ocean and making home on the East Coast. Exploring the complexities of relationship, loss, and healing, she uses her folk-influenced music to tell stories about loving and stumbling your way through the dark.
Now based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Valmy creates and performs by weaving nature-inspired melodic swells and atmospheric harmonies with her contemplative writing. In September 2023 she independently released her debut full-length album, ‘The In Between’, which was warmly received by listeners and thoughtfully reviewed by Tony Ploughman of Fred’s Records; “There is a cohesiveness to this full album offering meditative musings on balancing one's own mental state in harmony with nature…Deftly produced, engineered, and mixed, “The In Between” is one of 2023’s finest NL Releases”.
Valmy received MusicNL 2023 nominations for Folk/Roots Artist and Rising Star of the Year, a 2024 ECMA nomination for African Artist of the Year, and is looking forward to connecting with communities on tour this Autumn.
Alexander Gallant is a folk singer-songwriter from Halifax, Nova Scotia.
In the tradition of A Singer With A Guitar, Alexander's songs are simple, direct, and have one foot planted firmly on the ground.
Alexander believes in song as the purest method of communication, and uses folk styling to deliver his musings on the profound, absurd, and the blue.
