CentreStage Presents: The Fantasticks
The Fantasticks is a 1960 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_theatre" musical with music by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvey_Schmidt" Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Jones_(writer)" Tom Jones. It tells an http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegorical" allegorical story concerning two neighbouring parents who trick their children, Luisa and Matt, into falling in love by pretending to feud and erecting a wall between their houses. The fathers then hire traveling actors to stage a mock abduction, so that Matt can heroically seem to save Luisa, settling the supposed feud and securing their parents’ blessings (which of course the young lovers have really had all along).
The show is the world's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long-running_musical_theatre_productions" longest-running musical and the longest-running uninterrupted show of any kind in the United States. The Fantasticks features many familiar songs including “Try to Remember”. It is most suitable for those aged 12 and up.
