Corporate Prey is a dystopian-future feature film released in 2019 and chosen by London Lift-off Film Festival Online as one of only two Canadian feature films to screen in the online festival. Subsequently it was nominated for Best Picture and Best Cinematographer by Maverick Movie Awards, was part of Lift-off Film Festivals in Paris, Amsterdam, and Toronto — and in the Spring of 2020 received an Award of Merit from IndieFEST.
In 2039, one Corporation — owned by a handful of elite families, and run by a sociopathic CEO — effectively rules much of the world. Genetic engineering has made the population dependent on regular doses of Preytel — one pill every eight hours. Miss a pill and you die.
Rand, a senior geneticist, and Jill, head of IT security, are lovers — in defiance of company non-fraternization policy. Through a chance meeting with a prisoner (Sandy), combined with her IT access, Jill discovers that she will soon also “disappear” — setting in motion a series of events that lead Rand on a quest to take down the Corporation, its sociopathic CEO, and the "elites" that own it.
The showing will be close-captioned to support audience members with hearing impairment.
