Annapolis Valley artist and writer Sheila Graham-Smith celebrates her new novel, The View From Errisbeg, with readings and discussion. Love, grief, memory and poetry all play their parts in this remarkable story set in Ireland and on the South Coast of England.
Maritime-born Sheila Graham-Smith has travelled widely but has long been settled in the Annapolis Valley where she writes, blogs and creates her pastel art - all while she is not tending her garden or remodelling her home. The View From Errisbeg is Sheila's first published novel, her second is forthcoming in 2025, also from Askance Publishing.
Askance's origins are in the UK, where the publishing project began in Cambridge around 2009. Now Askance is firmly based in Annapolis Royal with a small but mighty list of titles and more in the pipeline. As Stephen Fry once said "A major minor writer is usually so much more rewarding than a minor major one.” So true of Askance authors.
