This year Music In Communities is offering two weeks of music-making fun for ages 8 - 18. This camp will focus on learning songs, writing songs, and arranging songs for a band. Led by Tyler McDonald and Amy Black, youth in both weeks will have a chance to try drum kit, electric bass, electric guitar, keyboards, as well as ukuleles, acoustic guitars and songwriting.

Youth can sign up for either week and are encouraged to come for both, so they can get really polished and performance-ready! On the Saturday after camp they will have the option to perform at the Canning Kitchen Party, in the gazebo at Bruce Spicer Park.

No experience needed, and instruments are provided, or bring your own.

To register, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/oWJf6osc9Kth9sLt6

Tyler McDonald has been leading after-school rock jams for the past two years and is well-loved by the youth he works with. A graduate of Acadia's School of Music with an education degree as well, he's a great drummer and guitarist and gigs regularly with a lot of bands in the Valley and beyond. He's excited to be returning to Rock Camp this year and show the kids how to put a band together.

Amy Black is a second-year music student at Acadia University, with over 7 years of private teaching experience. She has been playing music in one way or another for most of her life and finds so much joy in the creation process. She studies piano as her principle instrument, but has extensive experience with bass guitar, acoustic guitar and songwriting. Her songs have won awards in festivals like Kiwanis, and competitions in Nashville, and she has spent lots of time playing in different kinds of ensembles. Her approach combines technical expertise with creativity, encouraging her students to explore their musical potential and express themselves through their instruments.
