A dancing vigil.
We come together to grieve…
...for the Israeli lives lost & captured on Oct 7th
...for the 40,000+ Palestinian lives lost in genocide
...for all those held in captivity & torture
...for all those wounded & displaced
...for olive trees and lands decimated
...for generations of occupation since 1948
...for generations of living in terror across the holy lands of Palestine & Israel
...for the wounds of the Holocaust that runs 6 million deep
...for the grips of intergenerational trauma
...for the harms of cyclical trauma
...for the many other peoples, lands and species devastated by violence at these times.
We come together...
...to witness one another
...to pray with our bodies
...to breathe breath to hope
...to feed the fires of faith
...to give gratitude for our blessings
...to wish wellness upon all peoples, lands and sentient life
...be conjure harmony and peace for us all and the blessed earth beneath us.
Come join us if your heart calls you
we will let our bodies do the rest.

Your humble facilitators & space holders...
Natty Abdou - I am a community facilitator, performance artist, earth-tender and life-long learner. I love to learn alongside others for the purpose of community creation and transformation. I have spent the last 20 years collaborating with diverse communities in North America and Egypt, co-creating learning environments that are founded upon shared values of diversity, love, respect, creativity and self-empowerment - embracing a vision of solidarity, social justice and change from the inside-out. I see participatory, embodied and arts-based practices as portals for embodied wisdom to emerge, in service of personal, collective and systemic transformation. Alongside this, my spiritual and creative journey weaves themes of personal and ancestral healing alongside collective, paradigm shifting visions. www.weavingconnection.ca.
I give thanks to the various lands and first peoples that are a part of my lineage, growth, sustenance and being – Mississaugas of the Credit, Anishnabeg, Haudenosaunee and Huran Wendat (Southern Ontario), Mi’kmaq (Nova Scotia), Ohlone (California) & Nubian (Egypt/Kemet).
Tammy MacLeod is a dancer and teacher based near Wolfville. Her eight years in St. John’s, Newfoundland, immersed her in a vibrant dance community that sparked her passion for site-specific and multidisciplinary work. Now in rural Nova Scotia, she finds inspiration in the open landscapes and close-knit artistic community, where she collaborates with local artists and musicians through improvisation-based practices.
Her movement philosophy is shaped by the work of Deborah Hay, body-mind centering, and authentic movement, practices that understand the body dancing as more than. These influences guide her teaching and choreography, creating an approach that honors inclusivity and the power of embodied exploration.
