Speech for the Stage Workshop with Jamie Keithline of Crabgrass Puppets
The workshop will focus on creating a strong, supple, confident public speaking voice. We will start with the vocal basics: breathing, support, building vocal strength and creating a relaxed, stress-free sound that will let you be heard without harming your voice. Jamie will also have tips on how to stay relaxed and calm when speaking in front of people, and we will discuss vocal self-care to keep your voice strong and healthy.
You don’t have to be an actor to participate; teachers, preachers, screechers, screamers, schemers, dreamers and anyone else who ever has to (gets to) stand and speak to a group can benefit.
This workshop is appropriate for ages 12 – 112.
Please bring your own snacks and beverages, and clean footwear for the stage.

ABOUT JAMIE KEITHLINE
Jamie Keithline has extensive stage and vocal experience: 4 years of training in voice, stage diction and stage dialects, followed by 40+ years of 100-200 stage performance a year. He has learned a lot about how to produce a strong, supported voice and keep it healthy. Jamie has also done a lot of character voices, mostly for stage work but a little bit for video and voice acting as well. He has served as vocal coach for stage plays, including conducting daily pre-show vocal warmups.
