================================
An artist’s practice and world is often measured in seconds, minutes, hours - it is at these times we are able to live fully in the present, which I believe is conveyed at some level through life drawings. I would like to immerse and surround visitors with these moments in time that capture the human form and especially human emotion.
Montreal born, Nova Scotia-based artist Jennifer Goddard works in oils and multi-medium drawing. Her practice includes landscapes, portraiture and the languages of the figure, drawn from years of classical and contemporary dance with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens and Les Ballets Jazz.
A lifelong artist and largely self-taught, she studied at The Banff Centre, Alberta, under Tak Tanabe and at Studio Escalier in Paris and Argenton, France (2015-16) under Michelle Tully and David Baird. In the interim, she studied under various teachers while pursuing a career in advertising.
She has exhibited widely and has collectors in Canada, the US and Europe. Her work was selected for the 2018 Circle Arts Quarterly Magazine and Manifest Gallery INDA and INPA annuals (2015-16-18). In 2014 and 2015 she was shortlisted for the BP Portrait Award in London and was selected for the Kingston Portrait Prize exhibition in 2015.
