“A Room for Breathing” is an immersive textile installation specifically designed for the small intimate setting of the Mym Gallery. The work invites viewers into a meditative space where they can slow down, settle their attention, and reconnect with the rhythm of their breath.
Multiple silk and linen panels designed with intricate stitching, patterns, layered imagery, and colour will offer viewers a quiet place to pause and reset.
A seat gives viewers a place to rest within the installation. The materials, light, and atmosphere of the space evoke the moment of the slightest breath: the suspended interval between the in-breath and the out-breath, a tranquil moment where time stands still.
Coleen Davidson’s silk collages, soft sculptures and installations are deeply rooted in the delicate balance of the natural world. Her practice is informed by formal art training and art history, but the actual making is intuitive. In addition to teaching, Coleen has exhibited in solo and group shows at various galleries, highlighting my dedication to artistic growth and community engagement. Her work is in private collections in Canada and Internationally.
