We will explore playing with flowers, making Japanese-style flower arrangements while learning basic principles of heaven, earth and human. We will use line, space and mass as a way to explore this three dimensional art form that is connected to the natural beauty of our world.
About Odessa Spore:
Odessa is a visual artist and practitioner of Japanese-style flower arrangement and studied for 5 years with Soho Sake, a master teacher in the Segetsu school of ikebana. To learn more about her visual art practice, please see her website at odessaspore.com.

Saturday Workshop:
This workshop is offered by Odessa Spore. Odessa is a student of the Sogetsu school of flower arranging which is not restricted by “fixed styles” and allows us to make our original expression freely. She will give a talk Friday evening and do a demo. On Saturday she will demonstrate arrangements and we will each create our own arrangements under her guidance.

What to Bring:
Flowers and branches will be provided, and your arrangements can be taken home. Please bring clippers and kenzan, which are needle-pointed flower holders. (frogs) if you have them. We will have some you can borrow. We will provide some containers for your flower arrangements, but if you want to take the arrangements home, please bring a container.
Lunch:
Also we are having pot luck lunch so please bring a dish you can share, or bring your own lunch if you prefer.
Registration:
It's important to register for the Saturday workshop in advance so we will have materials for you. There is a limit of 12 attendees.

Parking is available beside the building and on the street. We will be using the upstairs space, which is not wheelchair accessible. We will have access to a kitchen for lunch.
