A gripping immersion into the frontlines of the historic Fairy Creek blockade, where thousands of activists participate in a do-or-die protest to save the pristine Ada’itsx Valley.
In a last-ditch attempt to stop old growth logging, some impassioned forest defenders put up more than 12 blockades across the pristine Fairy Creek valley in Vancouver Island. History repeats in a deja-vu of the iconic Clayoquot Sound blockades in the 90s, this time with higher stakes amidst a climate emergency. A deep dive into the complex encounters of the settler activists, local First Nation members, loggers, and RCMP officers, this character-driven feature documentary chronicles the largest act of civil disobedience in Canadian history.

Jen Muranetz (she/her): Jen is an award-winning documentary filmmaker living on unceded Coast Salish territories in the place now known as Vancouver, BC. She is a director, producer, editor and former video journalist. Her films are character-driven and impact-focused, centered around environmental justice and human resilience. Her previous works have screened in festivals such as DOXA, DOK Leipzig and Planet in Focus. Her credits include Lost Nation Road and What About Our Future? which was a finalist at the Social Impact Media Awards and won the Nigel Moore Award for Youth Programming at DOXA 2021.
Neal LivingstonNeal Livingston: Neal is an award-winning and well known Nova Scotian documentary filmmaker and artist based in Mabou Inverness area on Cape Breton Island, and has businesses in renewable energy, film production, and commercial maple syrup. He is an active woodlot owner. With a career spanning more than 40 years, Livingston has produced documentary films for television broadcast on a wide variety of topics, with several recognized as the most important political documentaries made on environmental issues in the region. Two of his films were shown in the 2010 Vancouver Cultural Olympiad as part of the Olympic celebrations.
Nina Newington: Nina and her wife raise sheep and garden on the North Mountain in Kespukwitk. She is a writer, lichen hunter and president of Save Our Old Forests. Over the last 5 years she has spent 18 months camped out on various logging roads, protecting forests.
