Lecture / Seminar

Join the Blomidon Naturalists for our monthly Nature Talk. This month, Donna Crossland explores how current industrial forestry practices, particularly the new high production plantations, destroy ecosystems and fuel wildfires and the climate crisis. She argues that an urgent rethink is needed to prioritize ecological priorities and maintain the forest canopy.

Donna holds a Master of Science in Forestry and is a retired Parks Canada biologist, forest ecologist, and former Park Warden. She is a passionate protector of the Wabanaki Forest, researcher of fire history, participant on the ‘Panel of Forest Expertise’, Natural Resources Strategy (2010), advisor- Independent Forestry Review (‘Lahey report’), and she sat on the ‘Minister’s Advisory Committee’ on the implementation of the Lahey forestry recommendations (2019-21).

Join in person at the Wolfville Legion on February 16 at 7 pm or register to join by Zoom.
