Event in Room: Library Gallery
In the vibrant colors of French Impressionism, especially Matisse’s simplified forms and cutouts, Brown Conrod works from direct observation, often allowing the materials to guide and shape each piece.
During a period of grieving, Barbara created original hand-drawn or painted cards daily for three months and mailed 84 to friends or family members. Larger interpretations of these images on canvases were later exhibited as in Tatamagouche as a solo show titled, The Art of Balancing Grief and Joy at the Fraser Gallery.
This ARTSPLACE Library Gallery exhibition will share a selection of the original cards alongside portions of their texts.
