LIGHTING FOR THE THEATRE: YOUTH AGE 12-17
Participants will learn how to hang a light, address the fixture and connect it to a network, program the light and set it in cues for a show. The class will be divided into groups, each group will design the lighting for the same short stage play. No previous experience required.
Monday March 16 from 9:30am – 4:30pm
FREE! Space is limited. Registration required.
What to bring:
Lunch, snacks and beverages for the day;
Clean indoor footwear (NOTE: students will not be able to participate without indoor footwear).
iPad or laptop (optional)

Identifying types of lights LED/TUNGSTEN
Address /DMX/ RDM
Focusing / Diffusion
Gel numbers (R and L)
Cues and effects
Cue timing- follow/hang
Following the action on stage
Light direction
Black/Blue out
The curtain- to use or not to use
Haze appropriate?
Shadow and mystery
Lighting scenery VS performers
Participants do not have to sign up for both days, though highly recommended. Participants are expected to view a series of intro videos PRIOR to the start of either workshop.

Qlab is exclusively on apple computers. Participants are welcome to bring their own iPad / laptop. They are also expected to use them appropriately, geared towards the two days of workshops. Windows-based laptops are also welcome as software for lighting works on MAC/PC.
